Gold vermeil (pronounced: vermay) is the official name for a heavy gold electroplating over a base of sterling silver. A minimum thickness of 2.5 microns of gold must be deposited before it can be marked or sold as Vermeil.

My silver Passport is shiny, beautifully crafted and very nice size. I chose this one because it has the Mexico stamp. All the Passports are pretty. The one that is right for you may depend on a particular Country as it did for me or you may simply prefer the colorful one. The absolute best Jet Set Candy policy is if you do not like the item received simply contact them and they will make it right. I honestly have never had better customer service. For this reason alone, I continue to add to my collection and recently started buying as gifts for my sisters. I/we have Luggage Tags, Airplanes and Passports oh my!
